No experience required. No pressure. Just open stage time, low-stakes play, and immediate community connection.
WHAT IS AN IMPROV JAM?
Our weekly Improv Jam is Fort Wayne Improv’s open playground. It’s a completely informal, supportive environment where anyone can jump on stage, play short-form improv games, try out scene work, or simply watch and hang out.
Unlike our Intro to Improv workshops or drop-in workshops, there is no curriculum and there are no prerequisites to the Improv Jam. Whether you’ve taken a dozen classes or have never set foot on a stage in your life, the jam is where our community gathers to play together.
HOW IT WORKS
- SHOW UP AND SIGN IN
- Toss your name in the bowl when you walk through the doors.
- Want to spectate first? No problem. Performing is 100% optional.
- EASY WARM-UPS
- We kick off with low-pressure, group-wide games to get everyone moving, laughing, and out of their heads.
- RANDOM DRAW SCENES AND GAMES
- Names are randomly pulled from the bowl for short-form games and scenes, pairing improvisers of all levels of experience.
- REFRESHMENTS AVAILABLE
- Both N/A and alcoholic drinks are available for purchase, if you need some of that liquid courage.
JAM RULES AND COMMUNITY CODE
In order to keep our jams safe, energetic, and fun for everyone, we enforce the following rules:
- Support Your Partner: Got someone’s back on stage, and they’ll have yours.
- Agree to Say “Yes”: Default to agreeing with your scene partner and the reality you’re creating together.
- Fail Loudly & Proudly: Mistakes are just unexpected gifts. We celebrate the swings!
- Respect the Space: Keep scenework inclusive, respectful, and safe for all participants.
- Only Handshakes in the Building: Keep physical contact no more intimate than a handshake.
